Rocca Calascio Castle has been included among the 15 most beautiful castles in the world by National Geographic.
The castle is located in a small town in the Province of L’Aquila City: by looking at it, you’ll be able to see the beautiful landscape of the Campo Imperatore’s Upland and the Majella and Sirente Mountains. On the top of the mountain, at an altitude of 1.460 meters above the sea, Rocca Calascio is the highest town of Central Italy.
Rocca Calascio and it’s Castle were film sets of many famous movies, like Ladyhawke (with Roger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer) and The Name of the Rose (with Sean Connery). Some parts of The American (with George Clooney) were also taken here.
