Hidden between plants, Carabinieri found a precious statue of the Roman II-III century. A.D. depicting the god Mithras slaying the bull stolen through a clandestine excavation in Tarquinia. It has been estimated that the work value may be around 8 million euros. The finding is considered rare and valuable because the world there are only two other specimens preserved respectively in the British Museum and the Vatican Museums.

The statue of the god Mithras will be now on display in an exhibition at the Vatican before returning to Tarquinia. The van has been blocked and controlled by the police close to Fiumicino. They, therefore, proceeded to search the vehicle to the edge of which, under a tarp, the statue was found. There was the immediate arrest of the person driving the vehicle: once arrived in the Swiss territory, the work would have been placed on the illegal international market.
