When it comes to fashion blogs, Chiara Ferragni’s blog may be one to triumph all others. The 27-year-old fashion blogger has a blog so massive that its value is worth more than $8 million.

This has resulted in Chiara to be ranked in Forbes 30 Under 30 Most Influential in the World list 2015, making her the only Italian on the list, and among other economics, fashion, science and engineering qualifiers from all over the world.

Chiara Ferragni has managed to build herself a life-long career out of what began as a personal style blog back in 2009.  Now, she has expanded her team to 16 other people and has signed partnerships with huge luxury brands such as Burberry and Dior.

Due to Chiara’s “business-savvy” decisions and outcomes, Harvard has reached out to her and asked for her blog, The Blonde Salad, to participate in the Ivy League university’s first fashion blogger case study.

How has a blog like The Blonde Salad rendered so much profit?  Co-founder Riccardo Pozzoli claims that during the first few months of The Blonde Salad, he and Chiara were “young students, and it was not easy to say ‘no’ to such proposals with high financial reward”.

Instead the two founders decided to wait for the blog to build all on its own, and as time passed, larger brands such as Dior began to take notice.

In 2010, The Blonde Salad began its run and huge brand companies were on their toes in hopes of working with Ferragni. Many of these companies were stepping into e-commerce and looking for someone like Chiara who could practice blogger product placement and sell their products.

All she had to do was “tell a story”, as Pozzoli puts it, that included what she was wearing and what she was doing, as well as “a couple of companies’ website links in the text.”

Chiara has also carefully managed to go from fashion blogging to fashion designing, and has created her own line called Chiara Ferragni Collection. The future plans of the sales for this brand are approximated to be around 7 million euros this year, and 10 million in 2016.
