Poggio Santa Cecilia town goes on sale for 40 million euros
An overview of the ghost town in Tuscany

Poggio Santa Cecila in Tuscany, a walled medieval hilltop village with 1,729 acres of land and numerous farmhouses, workshops and cottages, has gone on the market for 40million euros. Nobody lives in the 800-year-old town anymore.

The village is built on top of a hill, you can see it from the highway Siena-Bettolle. To arrive there, once reached Rapolano Terme, you have to take a small dirt road called “Strada Comunale Poggio Santa Cecilia”. Once you’re there the first impression is that you are visiting a ghost town. Silence, peace and mystery is what dominates here.

The villa in Borgo Santa Cecilia is set on the highest and most sheltered part of the hill was built 500 years later than the village. The Italian villa, which is the most luxurious building in the village, was designed to be set apart from the estate.
