The Italian fashion designer, Giada Curti, has had quite a year. She has recently returned from a world-wind tour where she not only showcased her Portofino collection at the Mercedes Benz fashion week in New York, but also presented her luxurious bridal collection at the Dubai Bridal week. No sooner had Mrs. Curti returned to Italy to work on her next collection that the Italian fashion designer got word that she was a recipient of one of Italy’s most prestigious awards, “La Ruota D’oro.”
Founded in 1986, the Rotary Club’s Ruota D’Oro has continually recognized individuals who pursue and excel in artistic endeavors. The founder of this award was the past president of the club, Luigi Lambertini. Mr. Lambertini would later put together a committee that would recognize those institutions, corporations and foundations who strive to promote and preserve the arts.
This past month, Ms. Curti received her award, a specially minted medal designed by Angelo Canevari, and was recognized not only for her extraordinary talents, but also for representing the Made In Italy brand and lifestyle throughout the world. The ceremony was held within the halls of the Hotel Intercontinental de la Ville. Along with her AltaRoma brand, Ms.
Curti has continued to establish herself as a dynamic fashion designer. Curti, who hails from Frosinone, is known for her whimsical colors and her meticulous detail. Her last collection that was presented in New York and included bathing suits embroidered with precious stones, summery outfits in beautiful colors, perfect for the seaside, and her signature Gbags, delicate crochet bags.
Since its inception, the award has recognized noted figures in the world of art such as Academia Lancisiana di Roma, the craftsmen of Aquila after the earthquake, Fernanda Gattinoni, Professor Mario Verdone, Artigiani of the Quirinale, and the beloved music conductor Ennio Morricone . With such an impressive roster which now includes Ms. Curti, it is evident that the Rotary Club is steadfast in promoting talent that carries forth the ideals of elegance and creativity, both of which Ms. Curti fashion house are synonymous for.
