The "via dell'Amore' reopened 30 months after landslides
The "via dell'Amore' was closed because of a landslide in 2013

Thirthy months after landslides which forced the closure of the tourist path in the Cinque Terre, a portion of the famous via dell’Amore has reopened. Indeed, about 200 meters on the path leading to the village of Manarola, in the Cinque Terre, was closed after a landslide in September 2012 had destroyed the walkway and also caused injures to some Australian tourists. The path restoration costs about 2.3 million euros.

The five villages and the coastline are part of the Cinque Terre National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Via dell’Amore used to be a paved walk, 0.6 miles long with lot of spots for photos along the way. After the blasting of a train line in the 20s, a trail was built between Riomaggiore and Manarola, with a gunpowder warehouse opened along the way.
