According to ANSA press agency, tourists should have to pay to visit Venice to help to stem damage caused by overcrowding and littering, the owner of the city’s famous Harry’s Bar said on Thursday. Arrigo Cipriani said that a tourist payment system on Freedom Bridge, which connects Venice to the mainland, was the only solution he saw to counter growing problems in the lagoon city: Venetians would get a pass for free, everyone else would have to pay something. He also said he was shocked by recent tourist behaviour after one man was captured on cell phone cameras jumping nude into the Grand Canal.
