LOS ANGELES – Italian jazz violinist Luca Ciarla is back in the USA again with a month-long tour that started on January 19. He will be touring mainly with Fiddler in the Loop, a music & visual animation program made in collaboration with Italian visual artist Keziat. The tour is produced by Violipiano Music in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles.

Luca Ciarla is simply one of the most creative and surprising violinists nowadays. His music easily transcends the boundaries among genres to trace an innovative musical path, a magical acoustic seduction in perfect balance between written compositions and improvisation, traditional and contemporary sounds.

After studying music in Italy, in 1996 Luca moved to the United States to pursue a master’s degree at the Indiana University and to study jazz with David Baker. Subsequently, he completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Arizona where he has taught violin and improvisation for several years. Winner of several competitions in Italy and abroad, in 1999 he has been awarded by New York based Chamber Music America. Luca Ciarla has recorded with several labels and has worked with classical, jazz, folk and even rock musicians.

He has successfully performed in jazz, classical and world music festivals and concert series in more than thirty countries and on every continent; from the Montreal Jazz Festival to the Melbourne Jazz Festival, from the National Arts Festival in South Africa to the Java Jazz Festival in Indonesia, from the Esplanade in Singapore to the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, from the Al Bustan Festival in Lebanon to the Adriatico Mediterraneo Festival in Italy.

Born in San Severo (Italy) in 1973, Keziat Terracciano, alias Keziat, approaches the world of visual arts at an early age. From 1996 to 2003 Keziat creates mainly paintings on canvas characterized by the representation of lunar, fantastic and mysterious worlds. From 2003 to 2008 she focuses on woman figures in an intimate, erotic and grotesque vein.

Since 2006 Keziat collaborates with Violipiano Arts creating and producing interdisciplinary performance of music, dance, theater and visual arts. Projects such as Music for Your Eyes, Archi Liberi, Silenzio Assoluto or Fiddler in the Loop are the result of a constant research in the world of animation, video art and live painting. Visionaria, her latest cycle of works, became an international exhibition project.

For Fiddler in the Loop, Luca Ciarla comes on stage with his violin, a loop machine and the surprising video animation made by Keziat. Music is the result of the superimposition of tracks recorded live and played back by the loop machine. Music is never the same, absolutely unpredictable, in symbiosis with Keziat’s visionary art.
