Rome has approved a plan that will make Via dei Fori Imperiali as a pedestrian-only starting in 2017. Buses and taxis can now drive down the street connecting Piazza Venezia to the Colosseum because of ongoing work on the Metro C line.
The cabinet said its decision to postpone making the road pedestrian-only is to “allow access to the Metro C work site and avoid penalties in case of delays that could inflate that budget by several million euros”.
