"Perfetti Sconosciuti" Won the David di Donatello Award as Best Movie
"Perfetti Sconosciuti" by Director Paolo Genovese
Director Paolo Genovese with his latest movie Perfetti Sconosciuti (Perfect Strangers) won the David di Donatello award for best film on Monday.
 
Other movies to win gongs were Il Racconto dei Racconti – Tale of Tales by Matteo Garrone (of ‘Gomorra’ fame) for best director, and ‘Lo Chiamavano Jeeg Robot’ by Gabriele Mainetti, which got seven awards including best emerging director, best actor and actress and best supporting actor and actress.
 
The annual David di Donatello film awards ceremony, organised by the Academy of Italian Cinema (ACI), in its 60th edition, is considered the Italy’s Oscars. Earlier in the day President Sergio Mattarella conferred three special David di Donatello awards to actress Gina Lollobrigida and directors Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, as “symbols of Italian cinema” and expressed “the country’s gratitude” towards them.
