After a whirlwind year that included fashion shows in Dubai and New York, Fashion Designer Giada Curti made a triumphant return to her home country, Italy, with her autumn-winter 2014/2015 collection. Amidst crystal chandeliers, and Arabic music,  Giada Curti’s haute couture designs fused the richness of her native country, Italy, with the exotic influences of the Middle East, as she paid homage to the United Arab Emirates and, in particular, to Dubai.

This past week, Ms. Curti treated her five hundred plus guests to a world of  luxury and opulence at the Westin Excelsior Rome Hotel.  After the opening sound of Zaghrouta, a joyous cry made by Arabic women at weddings, a model appeared wearing a wedding gown, a simple but elegant dress infused with crystals. The wedding dress best represented Curti’s talents and her esteem for both cultures. Instead of the classic bouquet, the model held a Gbag of wool and crystals while the traditional veil was replaced with a beautiful turban.

Throughout the collection, the models wore elegant but structured looks with an emphasis on soft feminine colors: white, silver and rose pink.  Wearing high heals covered with rhinestones, and walking slowly down the runway so that the audience could fully appreciate Curti’s craftsmanship and attention to detail, the models represented Curti’s vision of the modern woman:  elegant, cosmopolitan, a woman influenced by different cultures.

The collection was composed of soft yet structured silhouettes: a delicate pink Douchesse styled silk skirt with pockets, a blouse with delicate silvered paillettes that glistened, a rose macramé turban. This elegance became most poignant with her display of dresses: a  soft flowing gown with embroidered cuffs, crystals, and mother of pearl sequins; a rose colored “Sirena”gown made with lace rebrode and paired with a silk embroidered belt of crystals, pearls and a base of woven metal thread; a white evening dress with a silk skirt, made with an unique twist when paired with wool.  Overall, the clothes defined the waistline while the length of the dresses elongated the silhouette, and the sumptuous geometric necklines created a dynamic contrast to the often bare back.

Accessories gave the collection a touch of grace: Metal bracelets, Curti’s signature GBAGs made of wool and crystals, while the turban, her most highlighted accessory, was made of silk and delicately embellished with beads, pearls, sequins and metals.

This ten piece collection entitled Shukran (“thank you”  in Arabic) is part of a larger collection which will be shown in its entirety in Dubai. Ms. Curti will continue her global expansion with the opening of Atelier Giada Curti in Dubai.

Many thanks to the participation of Giada Curti Haute Couture and Press Manager,
