A new project, dubbed Gondolas4All, has unveiled the first access point for wheelchair users and people with disabilities to board one of Venice’s gondolas. The service, from the car-accessible square Piazzale Roma, will begin in about six weeks, after gondoliers are trained in operating the lift. The organization also created a jetty using an automatic lift to make getting in to the unstable gondola easier. Over the next few weeks, gondoliers will be trained in operating the lift, and visitors can book a ride for the average ticket price on the website.
Visitors can book a ride at the usual tariffs, set by the city, at the website www.gondolas4all.com.
