Italy will issue soon two new two-euro commemorative coins, one dedicated to Milan Expo 2015 and the other to poet Dante Alighieri.
According to the Treasure department, the coins will be legal tender throughout all of the eurozone countries, just like any other two-euro coins. Italy is gettin ready for the six-month Milan Expo 2015, which opens on May 1 with the theme ‘Feeding the planet, energy for life’.
This year, 2015, is also the 750th anniversary of the birth of Dante Alighieri, author of the masterpiece known as the Divine Comedy. Florence-born Dante is known in Italy as the ‘Supreme Poet’ and is considered the father of the Italian language.
