Tripadvisor has announced the results of its TripBarometer which measures traveler sentiments, emerging hospitality trends and more. The ranking is based on the world’s largest accommodation and traveler survey.
In Italy, Rome is the highest-rated Italian destination, followed by Florence and Venice in second and third places. The Eternal City is 4th among European destinations, after Istanbul, Prague and London and is rated eighth globally with Marrakesh, Siem Reap in Cambodia and Istanbul the top three world destinations. The region of Campania has most top 10 Tripadvisor slots with Sorrento placed 5th, Positano 7th and Naples 9th.
The report surveyed 44 thousand travelers and hoteliers, including 6,700 Americans. As the survey asked travelers where they dream about traveling if money were no object, Americans voted Italy as the top travel destination.
