There is no need to hurry up. The reassuring motto is the official greeting of the First edition of Slow Travel Fest, a three-days event in Siena, held in the charming Tuscany village of Monteriggioni, on the way of Via Francigena, the most important pilgrimage route, from Rome to the north. From the 9th to 11th of October, promenades, shows, music, art, cinema, nature and, of course, food, everything will be under the sign of the slowness.

Among the guests, great travelers such as French Claude Marthaler, telling about his cycling travels around the world, or the geographer Franco Michieli, known for his trips without any map and any cellphone, or Darinka Montico, traveler by foot, reporting her adventure in Italy, a whole trip without booking any hotel, just being hosted by people on the way.

Waking up at dawn to start hiking, following the stars in the wood, learn once again the names of the flowers, the trees, but above all, having the pleasure of getting lost, forgetting about guides, clocks and timetable. This is the purpose of the event: “because the journey, they say, is always the best part of the trip.”
