Former President Ronald Reagan was the only movie star to ever become President of the United States.

For some odd reason, there has never been a biopic film about Ronald Reagan, until now. Italian-American and ex-Disney Channel star, David Henrie will be cast to play a young Ronald Reagan in an upcoming biopic for about the former President of the United States.  The film will be called Reagan and is still development for release.

Reagan is so far a budgeted $25 million indie film told from the point of view of a KGB officer who “keeps tabs” on Reagan since the start of his Hollywood acting career.

Some of Reagan’s first movies were Bedtime for Bonzo and Kings Row.  He was nicknamed “The Gipper” after his role as Notre Dame football star George Gipp in Knute Rockne, All American.

David Henrie has the grand opportunity to play a young Ronald Reagan growing up from his teen years through his 20s, portraying a teenage Reagan as a young lifeguard, college football star, up until his radio announcer days and his move to Hollywood.

Henrie says he is utterly grateful to be playing such a prestigious man: “I’m excited to play such an iconic figure in an era of his life that many people don’t know about,” the young L.A native says. “That makes the role more challenging as an actor. I look forward to that challenge.”

Henrie was born next to California’s South Bay and Los Angeles in Mission Viejo, California. With his maternal family being Italian, Henrie’s childhood was filled with mass amounts of Italian culture. David considers himself to be a Roman Catholic Italian-American actor.

Once David started taking small acting gigs as a kid, it wasn’t long until he was discovered by the Disney Channel network to star in his big break on Wizards of Waverly Place.

Henrie also plays a minor role in How I Met Your Mother and in movies such as Grown Ups 2 and Little Boy.  David, now 25 years old, has branched out of the acting world and even produced and wrote a couple episodes of the famous Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place, along with other smaller productions.

Currently, there is not much other information about the movie, but The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the film was “adopted” by Space Cowboys’ Howarad Klausner from two biographies by Paul Kengor, God and Ronald Reagan: A Spiritual Life and The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism.  There also hasn’t been any other information set concerning director of the film or any other cast members, David has been the first.

Despite what some critics might say about Ronald Reagan’s life and how it might not have been as interesting or dramatic in comparison to other Former Presidents, it is still important to depict a character experiencing a journey that his fans and audiences everywhere can root for.

This will be the first major motion biopic about Ronald Reagan, and will be ready to hit the silver screen in the next upcoming years.  It is safe to say that this will definitely be a film viewed by many, about a beloved icon for millions of people all over the world.
