The Palio del Daino is an event held in Mondaino at the end of August. This year, it will happen between August 20 and August 23, when the whole town relives the Middle Ages. For four days, the local districts compete to win the annual trophy by challenging each other in duels and other traditional medieval and renaissance combats. The Palio del Daino is one of Italy’s first medieval festivals and, at present, one of the best organized. It is well known and awarded by the Consortium of European Re-enactment Societies.
Together with the games, there are side shows, parades and various ceremonies and the excellent setting which involves the whole of the town’s population. Not only the scenery (sets, lights, costumes and stalls, etc.) but also all the fair’s gastronomical stands are particularly appreciated by all visitors.
