A few days ago, a new, special restaurant opened in Genoa. Nothing new there besides the fact that the owner is an old woman, called Nonna Leonilda, 96 years old.
The idea is of a home restaurant, offering home cooking with typical Ligurian recipes, cheaply and in a traditional location. As told to swide.com website, she got the passion for cooking very early and learnt from her grandmother. Her favorite dish is gnocchi with pesto and homemade taglioni, which are part of the Ligurian traditions.
For the opening, April 18, the restaurant, run by Leonilda’s grandson, received 200 reservations and was on all the news. Nonna Leonilda does not cook anymore, however what she learnt in her life about Italian cuisine as well as what she has been making for years is the core of the restaurant.
