Ennio Morricone has been nominated for 2016 Golden Globes in the category of Best Original Score. Morricone was recognized for his work on Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. The cerimony will take place in Los Angeles January 10.
Today in his late ’80s, Morricone has written nearly 400 scores and earned his first of five Oscar nominations for 1978’s “Days of Heaven” — he also won an honorary award in 2007. He won the Globe for his haunting 1986 score to “The Mission” and earned his ninth nomination for his musical work on Quentin Tarantino.
As composer, orchestrator, conductor and former trumpet player, he has written music for more than 500 motion pictures and television series, as well as classical works. He composes a wide range of music styles for many film genres, making him one of the most versatile, prolific and influential composers of all time. His filmography includes over 70 award-winning films, such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, 1900, Exorcist II, Days of Heaven, the comedy trilogy La Cage aux Folles, Le Professionnel, The Thing, The Mission, the crime films Once Upon a Time in America, The Untouchables and Bugsy, Cinema Paradiso, Disclosure, Mission to Mars, and The Hateful Eight
