With amazing tech breakthroughs and thousands of new product introductions, innovation blossomed as new technologies came to life, redefining the future at International CES 2014.
In Las Vegas brands, markets and economies converge in what is far more than a trade-show: it is where there are more opportunities than ever to connect with those who matter in innovation and technologies.
Only ten Italian exhibitors attended the fair. Very few if we consider that France was there with 74 firms, Germany with 40, Sweden with 15, Switzerland with 13 and Holland with 12.
One of the biggest Italian firms in Las Vegas was Technogym. They showcased the first Google glass controlled treadmill. CES attendees had the opportunity to interact with Technogym’s new ARTIS treadmill using Google Glasses, thanks to Unity.
Thanks to new UNITY technology, the android-based console display platform for cardio training equipment, Technogym equipment is open to any app or third party device. The features are designed to provide each user with a fully personalized experience on their personal training program, data and favorite entertainment options.
IK Multimedia (from Modena but with branches in Florida, Japan and China) produces instruments able to make music using smartphones and tablets.
Qardio, from Naples, makes instruments able to monitor the blood pressure or the cardiovascular system connecting wirelessly to a smartphone or tablet.
Sensoria instead, promoted one of the more hazardous ideas of future: smart socks which use sensors in the sole to monitor the feet whilst running – things like weight distribution on footfall, number of steps and speed – and analyse the runner’s technique. The data is recorded by the detachable ankle-sensor and sent via Bluetooth to an app on the user’s smartphone, which advises them with vocal instructions on how to change their running technique to avoid injury.
Among the other Italian exhibitors there were GlassUp with eyeglasses that want to challenge Google glasses; Puro with its smartphone and tablet’s devices, Maikii from Treviso or Dws from Vicenza with a 3D printer prosumer.
Only to attend the CES fair means a lot of opportunities. The 2014 edition wrapped as the largest in show history with a record two million net square feet of exhibit space housing more than 3,200 exhibitors.
CES dazzled as the global gathering place for anyone involved in the business of consumer technologies with more than 150,000 industry professionals in attendance, including more than 35,000 from outside the United States.
