Every year in January, the Consumer Electronic Show showcases the latest technology from countries all around the world to the general public. This year at the CES (held at Las Vegas, Nevada) Italy had the opportunity to prove itself as one of the most innovative countries in technology today, presenting inventions ahead of our time.

One of the more useful inventions presented at CES for everyday life is that of the company Sensoria; they’ve created a new type of intelligent fitness sock infused with textile pressure sensors designed to inform you when you are striking the heel or the ball of your foot while you run.

The socks also pair with a mobile app called Sensoria Fitness, which allows you to visualize the foot-heat map. Along with this great feature, the Sensoria Fitness mobile app can send you real-time feedback and act as a “Virtual Coach”, continuously monitoring your form during your run.

Another groundbreaking Italian invention popular at the CES was the “Floome”, which is a personal and portable breathalyzer that can easily attach to the audio jack of any smartphone.  The “Floome” measures blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and sends the results to your phone, no batteries required.  The unique “Floome” app also aids you if your BAC is too high, giving you resources to call a taxi, contact a friend, or locate nearby places to eat to lower your BAC.

Italian engineering in electronic vehicles was not to be forgotten as well at the CES, where Energica Motor Company showcased a brand new electronic motorcycle, model name “Energica Ego”.  The 100% Italian-manufactured electric superbike was designed and constructed by CRP group, a company known worldwide for its state-of-the-art technology.

By engaging in this “international project”, CRP group has launched the challenge for developing more eco-friendly high performance technology.

These are only just a small few of the many high-profile inventions that Italian companies have displayed in Las Vegas.  Nevertheless, Italy has left a large stamp at the International CES this January of 2015, and innovators and inventors alike can all agree that Italian technology is undeniably first class.
