Thursday, April 18 

Tower after Hours: Italy, Museum of Man, Balboa Park. 

 

The Museum of Man in Balboa Park Tower after Hours event featuring Italy was fully attended with approximately 375 guests who celebrated the evening festivities with music, drink, and food. 

Music was provided by Roman Holiday and catered food was provided by Tarantino’s Gourmet Sausage, Operacaffé, Cupid’s Catering and Agosta’s Catering. 

 

This is the ninth year the museum has been conducting the Tower after Hours events.  The last time Italy was featured was in 2006. 

A note of interest and perhaps an unknown fact is that the sculptures on the exterior of the museum were sculpted by famous Italians: renowned sculptors the Piccirilli brothers in 1915.

 

Saturday, April 27 & Sunday, April 28

 

The 2nd annual San Diego Wine Show was held over two days this past weekend at the Del Mar Fairgrounds with approximately 800 attendees sampling hundreds of selections of wine from 24 Californian wineries participating in the event while live soulful music filled the air and gourmet food trucks provided nourishment. 

Interesting and informative seminars were provided over the two days by gourmet chefs and sommeliers. 

 

Saturday, April 27 & Sunday, April 28

 

Thousands of visitors converged on the streets of Little Italy for the 29th annual Artwalk held over two days this past weekend to get up close and personal with the various 350 artists displaying and selling their artwork to the public.  In addition, musical acts and dance performances were displayed throughout both days.

There are actually two artwalks that take place in Little Italy throughout the year.  Often people confuse this event with the Gesso Italiano Festa meaning Italian Chalk aka Chalk Painting Event that is held in autumn. 

 

Sunday, April 28 

 

House of Italy took center court at the House of Pacific Relations’  outdoor stage to celebrate live music, dance, Italian culture and Italian food.
