“Puglia Meets the Bay” represents a series of initiatives organized by the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia with a strategic communication plan called “Puglia Top Wine Destination,” in link with the article about the Puglia region published by the Wine Enthusiast magazine’s list of “Top Wine Travel Destinations 2013.” These new events were created to enhance the Puglia wine tourism image at the national and international level.
The first event in the program will be “WineArt,” an exclusive tasting of the wines of Puglia, the jewel of Southern Italy. While sipping and chatting with others from the San Francisco Bay Area, attendees will enjoy an exhibition of beautiful paintings by the rising artist and Puglia native Gabriella Legno (www.gabriellalegno.com).
The event will be held Tuesday May 14, 2013, at the City Club of San Francisco. The exhibition space in the center of the City, will be transformed for one day into an exclusive art gallery. The Puglia wine labels, combined with the paintings of Salento artist Gabriella Legno will be presented to an audience consisting of members of the press, traders, and opinion leaders. During the evening there will be a mini-seminar about the Puglia wine areas, with a focus on the main grape varieties, followed by a wine tasting led by an expert from the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia. The wines will be paired with finger food made with typical Pugliese products. The event is being held in collaboration with the Food Resources Department of the Puglia Region.
The participating wine producers are: Apollonio (Monteroni – Le) , Carvinea (Carovigno – Br), Castello Monaci (Salice Salentino – Le), Menhir (Minervino di Lecce – Le), Mottura (Tuglie – Le), Paolo Leo (San Donaci – Br), Rivera (Andria), Tormaresca (Minervino Murge – Bt), Vigne & Vini (Leporano – Ta), Palamà (Cutrofiano – Le), Masseria Altemura (Torre Santa Susanna – Br).
The target of this project is the U.S. market, the most important in the world in terms of wine quality production. This is especially true of the Californian market, due to its ability to act as a trendsetter because of its place as one of the largest wine producers, and the most active in marketing and wine tourism.
“Thanks to the collaboration with the Agri-Resources Department, the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia, California will partner with some of the most dynamic Puglia wineries. We are confident that our wines will capture the attention of a curious and demanding audience with two events that aim to raise the awareness about the brand Wines of Puglia and, why not, to attract them to our beautiful land as wine tourists. “
The Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia, federated association with MTV Italy, is a non-profit organization with the aim of promoting visits in the wine production place, to enhance their prestige and culture and to create prospects for economic development for areas particularly viticulture. You recognize the wineries of Movimento from the tile positioned at the structures entrance. This symbol stands for courtesy, professionalism and quality of wine tourism welcome.
Also, you can sign up on the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia’s website and enter a contest in order to get the chance to win a tour in Puglia.
Members of Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia, the organization that represents the participating producers, will give an overview of the region, the territory and indigenous grapes of one of the most interesting regions in Southern Italy. Hors d’oeuvres will be served throughout the tasting.
