As last Sunday they helped distribute the pocket-sized Gospel Francis had prepared for pilgrims attending the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square, now the Pope decided to be grateful and invite some of those 400 homeless people to visit the Vatican Museum.
Indeed, a group of 150 homeless people had an exclusive visit Thursday to the Vatican Museum complex and the Sistine Chapel. The visit, was led by with tour guides able to explain the sights and happened early afternoon, including a walk through other Vatican City areas, such as the gardens.
The larger group was ivided into three groups of 50 for the museum visit that would begin in the Hall of Carriages, according to Vatican Radio. For this reason, the Sistine Chapel, decorated with Michelangelo’s fresco masterpieces, has been closed to public visitors after 4 p.m. Prayers will be offered there before the group leaves to join the refreshments area in the Museum, where visitors will be offered dinner and then accompanied to the Vatican exit.
