GREEN like the Tuscan hills, like the olive trees from which the best oil is made, like the woods of the natural parks; WHITE like the snow in winter, like Sassi di Matera, like Carrara marble, or like the sand of Sardinia. RED like the best wines, like Ferrari cars, like the chili that grows in Calabria.

Italy is this and much more. Not only the colors of the flag, but those of nature, arts, food. The blue of the crystalline waters, the yellow and orange of the citrus plantations in Sicily, the black of the sand of Volcano island, and that tone of color called Terra di Siena, or Sienna for a reason.

The Italian Tourist Board (ENIT), in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute, presented “Destination Italy”, an insight on all that this Country has to offer to travelers. The event was hosted by the Getty Center, a perfect location to enjoy the many images of the Bel Paese, since the museum has always relied on the collaboration with Italy for studies, loans and exhibitions featuring both antique and modern artistic objects.

Moreover, the Getty has recently hosted Florence at the Dawn of the Renaissance, an exhibit looking at the artistic community that gave rise to the Italian Renaissance. For this special occasion, guests had the chance to visit the rich collection of Florentine pieces with a private tour guided by curator Christine Sciacca.

But art is only one of the many faces of Italy. There’s history, there is landscape; there’s design, fashion, and handicraft; there’s cinema and there’s music. There’s the hush of villages and the vitality of cities; there’s innovation and tradition, ancient and modern. And there’s food, with its unforgettable flavor and taste. For each wish, there’s a different Italy.

The variety is what makes this country unique, perfect destination for everyone. “Italy,” said ENIT Director Eugenio Magnani “is a combination of masterpieces”. Masterpieces of any kind; whatever your idea of traveling is, you will find what you need, and much more.
