The so-called “Passeggiata di Nervi” (Nervi’s promenade) extends from the port of Nervi through the ancient port of Capolungo for about 3,5 miles. It looks like a small footpath, that has been created in 1823 and was mainly used by local fishermen or farmers that reached the extensive farmland.
The current walk is famous for being warm also during winter and the terrific panoramic views over the cliffs and the promontory of Portofino. The first works to complete this work, after a long planning phase, began in 1862 in two different sections.
The promenade, owned by the municipality of Genoa that named it after Anita Garibaldi, wife of Giuseppe Garibaldi, is now a destination chosen by Genoese people and is a great attraction for tourists. In the summer time, it is also a favorite spot for many swimmers and fishermen, who have access to the sea through ladders on the rocky coast, which often form real natural pools.
