Anche l’ultimo dei fantastici quattro se ne è andato. Il mondo suadente dei grandi crooner si è chiuso, un’epoca d’oro incisa in centinaia di brani dalle vocalità calde, perfette, emozionali. Musica e atmosfera, quel tono confidenziale e affascinante che sul palco non aveva bisogno di effetti speciali per attirare l’attenzione. Bastava la voce, l’interpretazione, la sensualità del canto. Ciascuno con il proprio stile, i suoi successi, il suo repertorio. Un fil rouge però li accomuna.

Il documentario, spiega il figlio Danny Bennett, racconta il dietro le quinte di un rapporto solidale tra i due cantanti, anzi, meglio detto, tra due persone che fanno lo stesso mestiere.

Un po’ quello che in modi differenti e decenni prima era avvenuto tra Bennett e Sinatra. 

“Si sono incontrati – ha raccontato Danny Bennett a Variety – in un momento in cui lei non si sentiva molto bene, dopo Artpop e la fine della sua collaborazione con Troy Carter, il suo ex manager, che le fece dubitare di se stessa. Tony l’ha aiutata e le ha detto di andare avanti, credendo in se stessa. E poi all’improvviso, alla fine, è stata lei a sostenere lui”. Con dolcezza ed empatia lo ha guidato mentre l’Alzheimer avanzava.

Un feeling veritiero, profondamente umano, autentico, che forse spiega perchè sia “Cheek To Cheek” sia “Love For Sale” siano stati accolti così bene dal pubblico e siano diventati grandi successi. Il loro featuring, insomma, non una partnership commerciale ma una scelta reciproca, una sfida e una crescita per entrambi.
