In the months of May and June, the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles will dedicate a series of events, round tables, screenings, and other initiatives to Expo Milan 2015 and its main themes, nutrition and sustainability.

On the backdrop of the exhibition “Menu d’Autore” – open to the public from April 22 through June 30, and featuring contemporary artists from the Marche region, who authored some of the menus of the prestigious Accademia Italiana della Cucina, Chapter of Fermo -, the IIC guests were invited to a very special dinner on April 28th.

With the idea of replicating the grandiose showcase of regional culinary traditions, taking place in the Italian Pavilion at Expo Milan, the IIC venue hosted an exquisite journey through the flavors and colors of the 21 Italian regions. A feast for the eyes and taste, following an interesting presentation on Expo and its rich program of initiatives. In particular, great attention was paid to the city of Naples with the video “Naples for Expo,” introduced by representative Paolo Pontoniere, and a message from council member Enrico Panini, inviting American tourists and businessmen to visit in 2015.
During the evening, the 5th itinerary of the smartphone application “Italy Art LA” – designed by Alessandro Marianantoni’s Mediars and launched by the IIC at the end of 2013 – was also presented. It illustrates, through video interviews and mouthwatering recipes, some of the best examples of the Italian cuisine in Los Angeles.
The event was organized thanks to a joint effort of the entire “Sistema Italia,” Italy’s official network in Los Angeles, including the Consulate General, the Cultural Institute, the Tourism Board – ENIT, the Trade Agency, and the Italian American Chamber of Commerce West.

Many representatives of the local Institutions and the Italian American community were in attendance, including NIAF, Federated Italo-Americans of Southern California, IAMLA, and more.
