It’s a special cake called the Fugassa of the Epiphany and reveals a particular ritual that involves all people around the table diners. Within the “petals” of the cake, shaped like a daisy, two beans are hidden, one white and one black.
The person who finds either one, will pay for the bread or the wine. It used to be a surprise which made the celebration more fun. Even today, in many households, Fugassa of the Epiphany is served as tradition and makes kids happy.
