After 13 months of works and twenty years since last restoration, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II has been totally restored and will allow the access of passengers to all the sides and to shops.

The advanced machine conceived to ensure rapid and safe works can now be removed and total access to shops is now guaranteed. The Octagon is considered the salon of the city as it is a mosaic representing the crest of the House of Savoy. On the sides, you will find more mosaics representing the crests of the four cities that, in different times, have been capitals of the Kingdom of Italy: Milan, thanks to Napoleon, then Turin, Florence and, lastly, Rome, chosen by the Savoy house.

The work, which costed 10 million euros, has been partially supported by brands of Italian fashion and culture, such as Prada and Versace, as well as Feltrinelli. The works have been led by architects Daniela Fiocchi and Roberto Baciocchi, and wanted to restore the original colors and lines of the structure realized a century and a half ago.
