Violent storms caused powerful flash floods in coastal areas of the southern region of Calabria on Wednesday. In Rossano, roads and homes were flooded and the waters swept away cars and dumped them piled up together on the seafront. Five hundred residents and tourists were evacuated and are being temporarily housed in sporting complexes, where civil protection agents are setting up field kitchens.
