Take time to take it all in. Although small, Sirmione is so rich in ancient history you will need time to explore it and truly appreciate it. Located on the shore of Lake Garda, this small town oozes tons of charm: with its red roofs and its imposing fortress by the water, the impressive Rocca Scaligera, Sirmione is especially interesting to those who are passionate about ancient history: it is the birthplace of Roman writer Catullo and, to this day, it’s possible to visit the remains of his house at a truly charming archeological site surrounded by olive groves.
