HOLLYWOOD’S PREMIERE SCREENING OF “OUR LAST” “A FILM ABLE TO MOVE AND GENTLY ENTHRALL AUDIENCES” SAID THE CONSUL GENERAL ANTONIO VERDE WHO WILL WELCOME THE DIRECTOR DI MARTINO AND THE LEADING ACTOR GUGLIELMO POGGI THAT WILL BE PRESENT FOR “STARRING EURPOE FILM FESTIVAL” IN LOS ANGELES.

Our Last”, an “on the road” movie by the young filmmaker Ludovico Di Martino, will be screened in Los Angeles on May 15 during “Starring Europe”, a Film Festival organized by the Consulate General of Italy, in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute, the delegations of the EU Countries in Los Angeles and American Cinematheque.

Now in its fourth edition, “Starring Europe” will bring to Hollywood, from May 9 to 15, the best contemporary films from the European Union, and will give to the audience the possibility to interact with filmmakers and actors from the movies to be screened.

Our Last” tells the story of a journey which follows two brothers in conflict. When their mother suddenly dies, the two, struck by guilt and remorse, decide to fulfill her last wish to visit Sicily all together, and make their final family vacation an impromptu road trip with her coffin tied to the roof of their car. The experience will uncover all the complexity of their relationship.

The film has won several awards: “Best Movie” award at Ferrara Film Festival 2016; “Honor Mention” award at New Jersey Film Festival 2016; “Jury Award” at Montelupo Fiorentino International Film Festival 2016; “Audience Award“ at Montelupo Fiorentino International Film Festival 2016; “Special Jury Mention” at Festival dei Popoli e delle Religioni (Terni Film Festival) 2016; "Best Feature Film" award at Kiwi International Film Festival (New Zealand); "Best Film of the Month" award at the Around Film Festival (Berlin); “Best Film of the Month" award at the Miami Independent Film Festival 2016.

Ludovico Di Martino and the lead actor Guglielmo Poggi, (“Best Actor” al Milan International Film Festival nel 2016 - Best Acting Performance, Da Vinci’s Horse MIFF Award), will attend the screening at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica followed by a Q&A with the audience.

Il Nostro Ultimo”, film “on the road” del giovane regista Ludovico Di Martino, verrà presentato a Los Angeles il prossimo 15 Maggio nell’ambito della rassegna “Starring Europe – New Films from the EU” organizzata dal Consolato Generale d’Italia, in collaborazione con l’Istituto Italiano di Cultura, The American Cinematheque e le Rappresentanze dei Paesi UE presenti a Los Angeles.

Giunto alla quarta edizione, “Starring Europe” porta ad Hollywood anche quest’anno, dal 9 al 15 Maggio, le migliori produzioni cinematografiche europee contemporanee, offrendo al pubblico californiano la possibilità di dialogare direttamente con i registi e gli interpreti delle pellicole in programma.

Il Nostro Ultimo” è un road movie che racconta la storia di due fratelli in perenne contrasto tra loro i quali, dopo l’improvvisa scomparsa della madre, decidono di realizzarne l’ultimo desiderio: fare una vacanza tutti assieme. Mossi dal senso di colpa, i due ragazzi decidono così di partire alla volta della Sicilia portando la bara in giro per l’Italia sul portapacchi della loro auto. La vicinanza forzata metterà in luce tutte le difficoltà del rapporto tra i fratelli che, attraverso questo ultimo viaggio con la madre, finiranno finalmente per interrogarsi sulla complessità del loro legame. “Un film capace di emozionare” – come dichiarato dal Console Generale Antonio Verde – “e di coinvolgere con inaspettata delicatezza lo spettatore nella storia di una generazione alla ricerca forse troppo poco consapevole di se stessa’”
